will be getting divorced soon. i have not changed my name on my social security to my married name. can i go back to my maiden name without any paperwork?

If your social security card is still under your maiden name, then you don't need to worry about that. However, you will need to take your divorce decree to your DMV to get your driver's license changed, assuming that it states on the court order that your maiden name is to be restored.

In order to change your surname, you must petition the court in your county all documentation will be available there This will not completely resolve confusion with your previous name.

yes and no yes you can go to social security with your birth certificate and explain your situation and get it changed and also to your DMV, if that does not work go to an attorney for help. I hope this helps good luck to you.
