No, its not necessary that it will bleed when breaking the hymen because hymen can break in other causes besides sexual intercourse, like gymnastic, cycling etc. It also depends upon the age whether it will bleed or not. It has been seen that if a virgin girl has sexual intercouse in higher age say above 26-27, the hymen gets thicher and those girls generally bleed.

HYMEN AND VIRGINITY

This is the mysterious body part that is lost by young girls when they have sexual intercourse for the first time. Few people have ever seen what this fragile object looks like. It took us half a year until we were able to find our first willing virgin. We were able to take good quality pictures of her, using a special photo technique. You will see not only pictures of her genital organ, but of the HYMEN itself!

A girl who has never had sexual intercourse (a virgin) is supposed to have her hymen intact. In many societies, a girl’s virginity until marriage is considered a great virtue. For a girl who possesses such chastity, getting married becomes easy.

The hymen is a fleshy, thin membrane, which partially closes the mouth (entrance) of the vagina. It has a central opening, which may be rounded or elongated. Usually a finger can be introduced through the opening without breaking the hymen. This opening is necessary in order to let out the menstrual flow from uterus.

Sexual problems, irrespective of the causative factors, frequently cause serious psychological problems such as hostility between the marital partners and even complete breakdown of the marriage itself.

When the girl has sexual intercourse, the hymen is stretched and ruptured by the erect penis. This may be accompanied by some discomfort and bleeding. Apart from sexual intercourse the following also can cause rupture to the hymen:

1. An accident or injury, such as falling astride on a projecting substance, trying to climb over a fence and tripping
2. Sports activities like horse riding, bicycling, playing seesaw, high jump, and hurdles and activities like dancing
3. Masturbation, especially when indulged with a large foreign body like candlestick or vibrator
4. Introduction of instruments by doctors during examination or surgical operation
5. Faulty technique while douching (cleaning) the vagina. The rubber or plastic tube introduced into the vagina to let in the douching solution can lead to hymen rupture.

It now becomes clear to us that a girl with the ruptured hymen is not necessarily unchaste.

Breaking Virginity

No it is not a must when breaking virginity a female must beed. But if her hymen is intact and is broken during her first intercourse (virginity) she will bleed. Hymen can also break due to other various reasons, as sports, horse and bicylce riding, use of tampoons and other similar things.

Bleeding or not bleeding on the first intercourse (virginity) surely does not mean a female has had intercourse before.

Ah, yes. The hymen. That tiny little membrane that supposedly covers our lady parts. Let's clear a few things up, shall we?

You have grown up believing that the myth of the hymen ripping or tearing is gonna bring you a unpleasent experience.

Those "Bloody Sheets" Aren't Because The Hymen Is Tearing.
young partners are not experienced love-makers. first times are less skilled and more trial and error. poorly lubricated vagina or rough sex can cause sensitive vaginal tissue to bleed, but not hymenaltissue to break.

Intact Hymenal Membrane Doesn't Cover The Whole Vaginal Opening
If it did, girls who still had bits of the hymen left at puberty would not menstruate.

not everyone bleeds when they lose their virginity. it's different for everyone. not being funny, but if you don't even know what sex is and how it works, then you're not ready to be doing it. your boyfriend sounds like a first class idiot who's taking advantage of you. there's a chance you can be pregnant if sexual intercourse occurred - which is when a guy inserts his penis into a woman's vagina. x

I don't think many women bleed the first time, but really don't worry because even if you do bleed, it won't be that painful, the hymen is very thin flexible tissue, it's not just a plain layer of skin, it's meant to be torn.

If you are 19 years old and don't know what you did or what he did then you really shouldn't be having physical contact with men yet. Get yourself some sex education girl. If you had intercourse then of course there's a chance of pregnancy, whether you bled or not.

Ok a lot of girls on here are saying they didn't bleed...well I didn't even think it was true that that happened. Buuuut it did to me the first AND second time. At first I was embarressed but it just happens...and the guy doesn't care. And yes it hurts...but that's just me.

No many women have already broken their hymen through sports or things like horseback riding. The only time you bleed is if you hymen is intact and it gets broken when you have intercourse for the first time. If you hymen was already broken you won't bleed even if it is your first time.

No. You may bleed if your hymen isn't broken yet. But some women don't bleed at all because their hymen is already broken or it is flexible. Your hymen can break because of tampons, or even strenuous activity (dancing, horseback riding).
