I would like to pursue some sort of legal action. Any other suggestions on how i might handle this? Thank you

Your local Building and Safety department (city or county government) will have a code enforcement officer that will pursue a remedy on your behalf. They have the authority to bring legal action against your landlord. Let them know of your problems, and bring photos and documentation if you have any.

Almost all of these answers are correct in some manner. I had 125 condos and 55 houses in Vegas. I would have been at your door with a constable the day after the rent was due. That's the way it is. A landlord is not in the business for his health. When you buy a loaf of bread, you pay cash? right?

I doubt if the hole they made in the wall "let the roaches in" they were there already, they always were.
You have a certain amount of time for maintenance repairs, these can't be done over night when there's people that are in more need then you.
If I'm working on your drain and it's winter, someone looses their heat, that's more important. Your drain can wait. This is the way it is.

If you feel you've been unjustly prosecuted by the landlord then you can file a complaint with the County renters association or the renters association, every city has one. Take pictures, write down the dates, everything that was said, etc. I would pay my rent or, at least contact them and make some sort of deal.Good luck

First your lucky he hasn't evicted you yet, most landlords would have started the process by now.
The roaches are a separate issue as well as the hole in the wall, both of these are housing violations, after you pay your rent or put it in an escrow account and inform the landlord that the rent will be paid as soon as the needed repairs are made. Check with your local housing authority as to the proper procedures for the escrow account etc.

contact the local VECTOR control. they will come out and inspect and force the landlord to eliminate any pests. you need to catch up on your rent or they can evict you. if you are caught up on rent they can't evict you because then you can sue them with proof that they booted you out because of your call to VECTOR.

Move out - before you are legally evicted . . .
Hope you didn't pay a 'cleaning' deposit?
Don't plan on getting that returned.
