The earthquake in Taiwan did affect the entire internet, but the affects were greatest in Asia. Your internet connection could be slow for a lot more reasons than that.

Your connection may also be affected by Spyware/trojans using up your bandwidth.

Or your firewall may be acting up.

Your network card or modem (dialup, DSL, Cable) may be on the fritz or any router/cable connecting the two.

Some very popular antivirus software tends to slow the computer down quite considerably.

May be due to that. An internet connection can become slow or stop working due to a number of reasons depending on the type of the connection. Many of the problems can be solved by making software changes or small hardware corrections. Detailed instructions at http://tinyurl.com/yl62gz

I've seen similar questions over the past couple of days and it appears that it is probably the earthquake that is causing problems with internet connections.

Most likely yes, but if u have dial up of course. Only sites going to asia and coming from asia (in other words to access asian sites), then yes it WILL be affected.

The earthquake in taiwan has really been a pain, as u can see in my username, i go to chinese sites to download music, check news etc. so yeh!

Do you have dial-up? If so, that speaks for itself. If you have high-speed internet such as DSL, your problem could be caused by "line noise." Look into it.
