I wouldn't say it's "normal"...you should ask her why she's eating before you go out. It might be b/c she doesn't like the food at the restaurants you eat at (perhaps not as healthy as she likes?).

If she's on a special diet, then it's normal to eat beforehand just in case the restaurant doesn't have any food that meets her dietary needs.

Well, when I do that, it's for one of a few reasons.

1) I'm absolutely starved and have to eat something to tide me over. Can't have my stomach growling during the middle of a movie or good conversation.

2) I'm not sure where we're eating. I'm a vegetarian, so it's not always the easiest thing to work around.

3) I wasn't given enough notice before going out, so I didn't know NOT to eat.

4) I'm running low on money. If I eat a little before, I can either just order an appetizer or bowl of soup and be fine.

Now, that's why I do it. But if you notice your girlfriend NEVER eats in front of you, it might not be for one of those reasons. She might be embarrassed to eat in front of you. I used to feel awkward chewing away in front of people (especially guys I was attracted to), but I've made myself get over it. After all, everyone has to eat.

Another reason to why she says she's eaten already, and I certainly hope this isn't the case, is that she's actually not eating anything but wants to hide it. And that could be a big problem. Has she always been really thin, or lost weight recently? Or does she look healthy, good color, etc?

So advice. Spend a whole day with her, and pay attention as to whether she eats. Then surprise her by making a healthy dinner for her, or, if you think you're helpless in the kitchen, order some of her favorite foods. If she shows a healthy appetite, you've got nothing to worry about. It's probably for one of the first few reasons I suggested.

If she still doesn't eat, or just moves her food around her plate, talk to her. Don't suddenly accuse her of being anorexic or anything! Just say something like, "Are you feeling alright? You don't seem very hungry." Help her lay aside any fear about eating in front of you, if that's what you think it is. Help her lay aside any concern she has about her appearance, if that seems to be the answer.

Hopefully it's just one of the first few reasons. But if she does anything to make you suspect otherwise, make sure you're there for her. She's going to need you!

I thinks it's normal, and there can be lots of different reasons why she does this. For me, eating late at night will sneak on the pounds. I try to eat a good healthy meal late afternoon or early evening then just have a 'snack' at the restaurant, this works well for me. This might not be why your girlfriend does this, as long as she's actually eating, she's fine :)

I think she eats before you go to dinner because she don't like eating "allot" in public. If she's not hungry, she can just nibble. If she's starving, she is likely to eat everything on her plate, leaving her feeling guilty about what she just ate. Then again, maybe she's trying to save you money. If she eats before, she can order light, and won't cost you as much. Ask her. Whom better to tell you why than her.

Yea, she's a pig and doesn't want you to see it. She gut loads so she doesn't look like a heffer when you eat out. Dump her, she's going to be a cow if you marry her! Run, run quick and far away!
