1. c - Under the Homestead Act you only had title to the land after clearing it, living on it and working it for five years, or if you paid for it after 6 months

2. Tricky one - it is probably b as there was a lot of corruption in the Homestead program which allowed corporate purchase of land and unfair control over water supplies etc., d could also be an answer, but the act allowed 640 acres which actually proved to be too little in some areas where the land was poorer for agriculture or pasture

1. It depends on which reign or era of European history you are talking about. In the height of feudalism, it was impossible for a pesant to own land. In more recent times when the monarchy system was starting to fall apart, I would say the answer would be d.

2. c. The other answers were usually not the case .

3. a. as there was little reconstruction that took place north of the Mason-Dixon Line compared to south of it.
