Work on your voice. You should be able to hit the back wall of the theatre but without shouting. Enunciate. Command the stage. I had a friend who was not the most beautiful person on the catwalk, but she walked like she owned it... that's how you should be. If you can project confidence, you'll be ahead of the game.

Before the particularities of the audition, which I notice someone else has covered very well, you need to be able to act, or at least present yourself as a potential actor. In the absence of a mentor or teacher, you could try acting out some character in front of a mirror, or friends. Observe everybody all the time, and practice becoming them. Remember, character is projected by gesture, and body, as well as facial expression or language. Silent gesture can say more than a whole paragraph. Practice it. For the voice, speak from your diaphragm, not just from your head or throat - it will give your voice a richer timbre and project it further. Most people, especially young girls, squeak through their noses. It's horrible! Be proud and confident. But never pretend to be what you are not, or what you have not truly learned how to pretend to be. Work that out, and you're there! Don't fall over but break a leg. Oh - and work with an amateur play group should help, but try not to pick up bad habits from ignorant egoists.

Some basic info to start:
Traditional audition attire is either black dress pants or a knee-length black skirt and a solid red or black top with sleeves and without cleavage; the whole outfit should A) evoke the character you're going for, and B) be professional looking. What if I'm auditioning for a teenage rebel, you say? You can evoke that image without jeans and a tube top; never never never go to an audition "in costume". Make-up should be natural, and your hair can be down but should be out of your face. Do not wear a hat. If it is a musical audition, bring dance clothes for the dance audition. Wear character shoes if you have them, otherwise any closed-toe black shoes will do, but bring some shoes that are comfortable to dance in.
If you get called back, wear what you wore for the first audition so it's easier for the director to remember you. That way when you walk on stage the director goes, "Oh yeah, her, I remember her. I liked her." and you're already off to a great start.
Have your song and/or monologue memorized ASAP. Practice in front of your friends and ask for feedback. Once your song/monologue is memorized, rest your voice. Drink lots of water to keep you voice hydrated, and make sure you warm up and run through your song/monologue once about an hour or so before your audition. Show up to the audition site at least a half hour early.
Be nice to everyone. You never know what the runners tell the directors in between auditionees!
And stand up straight and SMILE! Break a leg!

Diction,Clarity,Volume and Tenacity,Make your self glow. When you walk in make sure you say hello and what not to the director and others before they do.Dont look at any person while the auditon, pick a chair,a spot on the wall and target it.Walk in there with a plan, they love when actors come in and take charge of the audition when its your time to shine.Make sure your hands and/or feet are not moving unless the script says so,in other words do not waist energy on nervous ticks. If you mess up, do not say "im sorry", "oh i messed up" just keep going and stay in focus.Be humble, truthful while not delivering the lines. These things I have learned after my first audition which I did not get called back for, after fixing the things above I have been picked for a part everytime.

Maybe learn how to act! There should be at least four years of serious study before an audition! You cannot appear experienced if you haven't got any studies! Any good director will sort you out and it's for sure he won't appreciate you trying to deceive him! It's better to go there honest, as you are then trying to be someone you are not!

okay heres alist:
1. if you want to start acting, you should enjoy it.
2. It should come from your heart, not from your brain.
3. Don't think that it's something you can just "quit" after it gets annoying.
4. Remember that once you start, you'll have to cancel all your other plans in the days of filming.
5. NEVER be shy when you audition. They aren't looking for shy, beautifull people, they are looking for people who can act, are friendly and who are easy to work with.
6. Prepare a song (and practice it!!!) just in case they ask you to sing.
7. Remember your manners at the audition.
8. Prepare a speech such as "Hello my name is..., I'm ... years old, I love acting because... I really hope I'll get to work with you" etc. Good luck dramaqueen!!!
