Everyone knows someone like this whether a relative or not.
If you are close to your cousin, confront her when you are alone with her - but not in a threatening way. Tell you you are hurt by her actions when her friends come around and ask her if there's anything you both could do to make the situation better. If she is responsive and trys to change, then you've got a winner. If she rejects your suggestions, then she is not your friend, and my suggestion would be for you to try and avoid these types of situations. In my experience, people who act like this are often very insecure about themselves. Keep that in mind when you are talking to her.

It's peer pressure. When she's alone with you, it's all family, so she's polite. When her friend comes around, she wants to appear cool. Unfortunately, her way of dealing with things is to bring others down. You should either avoid her when her friend comes over, or try to take the same interest in her friend. But don't expect her to act the same with both of you around.

Thats the beauty of having family. You can tell them anything, be as honest as possible, because even though they'll get mad, they still have to love you and will eventually speak to you again. If you guys are super close, you need to let her know what she does is wrong and you don't appreciate it. Let her know that if she can't act the same way with you when her friend isn't around, let her know that you guys won't hang out anymore.

Stop talking and hanging around your cousin at once. When she ask why, tell her your not going to allow her or anybody to treat you like a piece of ****.

Then dont hang out with her, dont stick around someone who mistreats you. You are allowing this behavior by not saying anything either when she does it or after the fact so she is thinking its ok to treat you like crap when she does... If she continues to do it after you talk to her then stop hanging around with her.

Leave that person alone for a while...a couple months to convey a message! Always remember family is thicker than water!

Be cold to her. Stop hanging with her. She won't do any good to you. Anyway, she's not a friend-cousin worth keeping!

I had the same thing happen when I was 12 years old. No she is a snob and always will be. Be nice to her, but count her as a lesson worth learned.

she's relating to her friend by picking on someone. connecting with someone over another's discomfort is something that she needs to learn is unacceptable, so talk to her about it and cut ties if she keeps it up.
