What are you talking about. S. Africans have been opening All white schools in S. Africa for YEARS. Read some history books. Also, her school has white children in attendance.
You should rent or buy Sarafina. It think it would be for you.

Actually Oprah had every right to say what she said. Oprah is a billionaire as we all now, and she is allowed to do whatever she pleases with her money, she is not the president although he to needs to learn how to spend his own money but he is the PRESIDENT not Oprah.. She is not bound by any law to not have said what she said and she didn't use any racist slurs, I personally believe a lot of people dug way to deep into that comment. She doesn't have to answer to WHITE people or any person for what she has or hasn't done and you thinking she should be sued! What about that guy from Seinfeld who said the N word over and over in his comedy show, or maybe the way regular television no HBO or cinemax is letting the B word and N word just be said without it being rated R so should we sue the stations. You have the wrong merit of understanding. I know if I was rich I would try to help the poorest of the poor not someone in America with all of these great opportunities. You make your own life in America, America does not make you.

I am white and married to a black African woman. Believe me what is racist to you is fun to blacks. For example a lot of bullying in schools of children in the west today is because the look or sound different. In Africa or completely balck societies from 5 to 65 years of age they poke fun at differences but there is no badness in the poking, they celebrate it. Words are just words its the venom behind them that makes them powerful. There was no venom behind Oprah's words.
And Sunshine racism is not a single entity just like any other ism in the biggitory family you can have slightly to very very. To group racism all together into one basket is dangerous as you could influence someone else.
Thankfully we as a society are beginning to think sencably about such things. If someone jsut 10 years ago were to use the adjective black to describe someone they would be described as racist. So if Oprah then called someone white she would have probably have gotten the same barrage 10 years ago.

It's frustrating. "Minorities" have turned the tide of racism in their favor. I don't know why anyone thinks that this will solve racism and give every race and every color equal opportunities.
Racism only breeds racism. Hatred breeds hatred. It doesn't matter who you discriminate--it's discrimination.
I know in South Africa, the racist wounds are still fresh from Apartheid. That is a truly racist country. Even though the Africans were there first, the Dutch ruined it for everybody. I understand her opening up an all-African school in South Africa.
In America, though, people like Al Sharpton aren't helping any cause--it's just being a racist and a hypocrite. Yes, racism is still a problem in some areas of the U.S., but it won't be solved by guerrilla warfare (guns or words as weapons).
I hope one day everybody can get a life--that means everybody, not just white people. I'm so sick of hypocrites.

What are you talking about Oprah has taken a great step in helping these young children and their education. Do you really think she meant what she said in a racist way, get a grip and grow up. She is helping her people least she is not yapping on about it she is doing something. If you don't like what she said fine don't have anything to do with her. I also think you need to do your homework it's a school for females and yes the majority of student will be Black because where is it based in Africa. Don't worry about what others are doing worry what example you show others. For example if you saw someone get something racial said to them in public would you intervein. You really need to look at the bigger picture instead of just hearing what you want to hear. Think about the past and how people with color have been treated by big shots or "normal" people on the streets and see if what she said a big deal. I don't mean to say what your saying is wrong but don't dislike someone who has done her fair share.

i dont think you should stop watching her, she didnt mean any harm or racism i think but you do not know what goes on between some white and black people, african americans came from africa, africa is a big country with low poverty and aids, america didnt go over there and build a school, africa is basically black so she is not being racist at all but some white people are making it more difficult anytime a BLACK FEMALE does something, it always turn into something that's not, i just think some people dont want blacks to have anything especially in africa and you never know they might have said something to her before they "quoted her very words" but i personally just wish everybody could get a long. hope this helps.

I think she was more saying that she does not have to appease anyone to open up a school for children who need one, and that any critics that may want to contest her intentions, she is saying GO AHEAD. I am more concerned about her doing good intentions that need glorified to please her. When someone does a good deed they should do it from the bottom of their heart and not need it advertised. If she thinks this will make more people want to do good, think again. People do things everyday, great things, that never get recognized. I don't like how she needs a spotlight on every so called generous thing she does. Just my thoughts on Oprah.

Are you old enough to be up this late ? Your question indicates that you are most likely in your mid- teens with an over abundance of hormones giving some credence to the adage that man does not have enough blood volume to make two heads function properly at the same time.

Blacks in this country can do and say anything they want without any kind of repercussions I do like your Gates analogy. Yes it is racist and why she doesn't do anything to help the children right here in the USA is beyond me.

This is America, so racism only applies to white people. That is because it is the fault of all the white people in the country today that blacks were oppressed hundreds of years ago.
