Can we judge a person by their zodiac sign?

It would be silly to judge someone based off of anything without getting to know them. Astrology has gotten a bad rap because the only thing that gets talked about is a person's Sun sign. And that's like judging someone based of the shape of their eyes and being able to say where they are from and whatnot. The problem with just recognizing and then basing a personality off of just the Sun sign is that you have every sign somewhere in your birth chart. So that even if you are a Leo, for example, you may have your Moon sign in Scorpio and your Rising Sign in Gemini! You may have what's called a Funnel Chart and most of the energy is funneled through your Venus in Aries making the fact that you are a Leo take a backseat! Up until recently, there hasn't been any certification on being an astrologer, so people would decide, "Hey, today I have decided to become an astrologer!" and they fill people's head with nonsense that they think is right. Magazine and newspaper horoscopes are complete crap! No need to judge, but the sign and its indications will tell you a lot about what the person CAN be like at times and in certain situations. It can tell you a lot about an individual's tendencies, but is not an absolute.
You can also get more in-depth information by charting their time of birth and location if you want to get really specific and have some fun.

Slightly, people are all unique, yet sometimes their qualities are somewhat similar to others....like for example so far in the dating field only PISCES women have i been able to connect with AT ALL to where i actually had a relationship. My fiance is a pisces, and it's interesting because some of our habits or certain aspects of our personality is very very VERY similar, it's almost like i'm dating myself somtimes....but eve still we still have differences in opinion or how we go about things, but that's why you can't depend solely on zodiac, because HOW you've lived depends alot on the amalgam of personality, but your zodiac is like a 'summary' of what to expect of you including you as the individual.

I have found as a general rule that most people exhibit the basic traits ascribed to their sun sign. Remember, though, it's only in a general way. For example, if you don't like vain people, you should watch the Leo closely for a bit. The Capricorn is often all business and doesn't really know how to play well. Aquarius (me) are often weird ducks. Use the sun sign the same way you would use the person's height, weight, hair and eye color to see if you would be likely to get along with them.

Yes I guess you can
Once you find out what their star sign is however it would still leave a bit of a mystery unless you knew their rising and moon sign.
When I am having difficulties and I am trying to work someone out I start with their Star sign however I find out more via numerology through their date of birth.
So I use both : )

Not accurately, but it can help us look at people in different ways, and you can try different zodiacs of different cultures too.

Similarly I ask, can you judge by a name? Yes it shapes people but is no definite determinant.

I am a Taurus were stubborn I got that but my sign also says were supposed to be calm and slow to anger which for me is not true I have a temper without a fuse sometimes I don't even know what sets it off.
