I started wearing makeup my freshman year of high school (when I just turned 14). There were a lot of girls who started in the 7th grade (12-13 yrs). My cousin started when she was 10 yrs old (a bit too young I know). Girls start at different ages.
It basically all comes down to your mom's personal opinion because she will most likely be the one buying it for you, and helping you pick it out.

I remember wanting to wear makeup so bad and my mom gave me the best advice (although I didn't know it then) but she said "You can start wearing it anytime as long as I can't tell you are wearing it" I was 13 at that time and excited that she said yes! I was extra careful not to wear it thick so that I COULD wear it. Looking back on it now, it was good advice so that I didn't look like a clown and learned how to put it on "artistically" It has been 30 years since then and I have always gotten such great compliments on how I apply my makeup.

I started wearing make up when i was 13, but the school I went to wouldn't allow much. So I tried to get away with what I could, but when I was 14 I really really started to wear makeup.

i think that at age 13 or 14 is a good age to start wearing makeup, but not a whole lot!!! a young girl who looks more natural is beautiful, but a young girl who wears a lot of makeup looks a lttle trashy

Makeup is actually designed for woman over 40. On teenagers, it can cause severe breakouts, dryness, and premature wrinkles. O.o
If you are a young person with acne I would recomend to put a concealer which matches your skin tone over the pimple, making sure to dab it on with the pad of your finger, then dust a light loose powder over your face.
If you want makeup to just overall match your skin or to make you "more beautiful overall," you should try a tinted moisturizer. I found that nuetrogena tinted moisturizer worked really well on my skin. It wasn't as heavy as makeup - and helped keep my skin clear from breakouts. *^-^*

I started wearing makeup in............. 4th grade just tinted flavored lip glosses i never have liked liners or mascara and i dint use it i used to do beauty pageants for a long time. Guys really dint know what its like to be a girl its absolutely hard. No offense to you guys. In second and 3 and 4 grade just lip gloss and under that play makeup. Little girls want to feel pretty like their mommy's and aunts take it from me i dont have kids and dont want any until I'm like 22. But i have nieces and she says i want to look pretty too just like her mommy and her aunt. Im older so i wear lipstick and avon eyeshadows just light colors. Just dont look cheap. If your child wants to wear makeup apply it for her until she can judge how much is too much.

I started wearing makeup when I was 9, but it was only powder and lip gloss. I really started wearing real makeup when I was 11.

i think the right age..is in highschool....in middle school..i remember using it..but i was just going crazy w/ makeup! haha.i just remember every girl having a makeup bag w/ a bunch of glittery lip gloss stuff....cause it was the "grown up" thing to do eventhough many women dont wear glitter every day...but the right age to actually start using it right is whenever you find your style...thats usually found senior, junior year of HS. but whatever, thats just me

I would say when you are in 7th or 8th grade you can start wearing makeup. But start off slowly-just some lip gloss and mascara or something.

i think girls should be allowed to start wearing lip gloss and mascara in 6th/7th grade. but if the kid has bad acne problems, get the kid a cover up and some medicine, you dont let stuff like that heal on its own. i think healthy glowing skin in the most important thing, and im only in 8th grade. take it from me honey, i used to want to wear makeup in 4th grade, that stuff clogges your poores. guys arent looking at what eye-shadow your wearing. just exersize, eat healthy, take showers, and groom yourself!
