I can't believe how many times ours has fallen to the ground (carpet) and still works fine, talk about solid! My model is about, what, 30 years old? The outer shell is transparent, the inside parts are primary shades of yellow, green, blue and red. How old is the Princess model?

The Princess Phone actually dates back to the mid-to-late 50's. They originally had a dial, then in the 60's, came out with buttons. But they still were pulse tone, not touch tone. I believe the clear ones were some of the last ones. For awhile the "clear" fad was going through just about everything -phones, radios, clocks, TV's, and then the Apple Computer stole the limelite some years later.

Mid to late 60's I think. We had an old bakelite black rotary phone and I so wanted a pink princess phone--no go. But I'm pleased to know you still have you're old see-thru one! To think all that technology and more can now fit in the palm of our hands but it was so cool to see inside the magic box back then. Yours probably even has a "property of the phone company" stamp on the bottom, eh?

My parents last had one when they moved into their house in 1980.
The phone company took it back, after you could buy your phone at walmart in the early 90s
I think the orginals came out in the late 60s early 70s
