How come when you put mentos in diet cola, if blows up or its goes up into a fountain for a few seconds and if you eat or put a mento in your mouth and drink diet cola it doesn't blow up?

Well - the reason the Mentos creates the explosive force in the Pop bottle is that the mentos liberates the CO2 out of the soda all at once - due to a unique combination of physics - the micro structure of the surface of the mentos - and chemistry of the mentos themselves - in your mouth there isn't a lot of soda, and even less CO2 - so even though the Mentos does in your mouth the same thing as in the pop bottle it doesn't "Appear" to have the same effect - but it does, it's just that the volume of soda in your mouth isn't enough to trigger the reaction.

When you pur the mentos in the diet soda, there was a lot of the soda and the mentos had a bigger reaction. also when you eat mentos with diet cola, the saliva in your mouth deactivates the reaction.

look at it this way
even without mentos, the HCl in our stomach would have reacted with coke to give an explosion but it didn't
