when someone rings my phone, it only rings four times before it goes into voicemail (i.e. it goes ring-ring, ring-ring, ring-ring, ring-ring...voicemail). is there a way i can extend the ringing duration to give me more of a chance to get to the phone and answer it? (i am talking about a mobile phone here, but it would also be helpful to find out how to change the landline as well). thanks!

you have to call your mobile phone company, and they will be able to set it up so that it rings 6-8 times before going into voicemail

Shut off the voice mail when the phone is with you

you will need to disable it, also depends on what network you're on, and what phone you have. To disable it you need to go into settings, call divert and choose cancel all diverts, thats if you have a Nokia.

do a 'search' for the supplier of your phones and download the instruction manuals.
