No, evergreens generally will not resprout. An exception is the redwood, where slivers of it will sprout. Some trees once cut will re-root; we used cottonwood when I was a kid to make posts for a duck pen. The posts near the water all sprouted, one is now a very large tree, 40 years later!

Sorry, but you are out of luck. Without roots, the tree will not grow. Aside from that, most Christmas trees are cut very early and stored, and the dying process is well underway by the time they make it into your home.

NO, IT WON'T GROW--ONCE IT IS CUT, IT EVENTUALLY DIES. THEY HAVE TO BE GROWN FROM SEED AND SOME XMAS TREES, LIKE THE "NOBLE FIR" ONLY GROW HIGH UP IN THE MOUNTAINS.

It will not grow because the root system was killed and it was not properly grafted at the youngest tissue level or newest growth.
