The rate we are going-I doubt it.
I hate to sound pestimisitic.
I work for the USEPA.
I see many things that go on with the US public.
The last polls that came in, Environment came in 13th, for important issues...
now, that should tell you something!! Strange weather and all....our world is not at its best!! people need to become aware of what's really happening to our world for them to really understand-but till that day comes-I doubt it....People don't realize but the environment is what makes you breathe....your environment affects your way of life...not many people have grasped this concept!!sad

Yes.

However, one is more devastating than the other. One is naturally occuring and the other is man-made. In either case there is an idea I have had yet to be tested.

Global warming can come from a variety of sources. From greenhouse gasses, (CO2), from a natural warming of the plannet, or other natural sources. There is evidence that we have gone through these changes in time.

The consequence here is that if temperatures due become too warm the ice caps will in time melt filling the north and south polls with colder water and in time filling the oceans with fresh water. Salt content that normally keeps the water ballences in check become unusually low in the colder water north while causing changes in current.

There is some question I have as to how this affects various warm and cold phases in the Atlantic, Pacific, and other areas but the idea I have is that the less salt in the waters near the polls the more the cycles become frequent and the more intense they become.

In time Earth will reach a phase where the waters will cool rapidly and serious and very intense storms would develop. Not to the event that Catigory 7, and "The Day After Tomorrow" would represent, this would be a change over 10's of years - and the affects would be far reaching.

Eventually the temperatures will fall and we will be talking about an ice age rather than global warming, or we'll be talking about an energy shortage coupled with the affects of this all.

Earth is a large "living radiator" and our water acts as a cooling system just as it does in real life. We just don't yet know when the big "thermostat" will go "it's time to cool this world down".

But I do admit this is my own opinion and though I can go into details it would not be fair to others here. Too long an explanation.

Global warming is a part of a natural cycle. Stopping it would mean that every living creature, down to the level of bacteria, would have to be removed from the equation. The way to slow the effects or reverse the effects will have to do with increasing thick vegetation/forestation and reducing the usage of Carbon Monoxide that is released into the atmosphere.

Short answer is that there are those in the world who will never stop using gas powered cars/planes/boats... so stopping the warming will be nearly impossible.

Remember, every cycle has a downward slope. Global cooling will take effect once enough natural disasters occur and start to increase the amount of solar blocking particles in the atmosphere. Sad isn't it?

global warming will end eventually. its been relevant all through history. global warming then an ice age then global warming then an ice age and so on and so forth... BUT. this global warming is like nothing before if this warming continuous the way it is the earth will be so hot almost all the species on the planet will die. that includes most humans. if we (humans) stop creating so much green house gasses and do other things to naturalize the eco system and earths natural way eventually with alot of time the earth will Heal its self... but there are many many sides to this story.. if you really want to know more about global warming you MUST watch al gores movie called "The Inconvenient Truth".. it really is sad how we are destroying our planet... its our only one.

sure it can....
2 ways.
1, we as the human race immediately implement massive strategies on a global scale to rectify this extremely serious situation.... or 2,

let nature run her course, go through the cycles and rebalance herself.

i think were at the point now where we can reduce its effects or hold off what it is inevitably going to do anyway
but i do think we are under global change

We cannot end global warming, but we can stop it at its earliest.

maybe... if we had the technology, but if we do not use as many greenhouse gases we will eventually delay the next ice age!

Maybe. If we all get off our butts and do something about it. It scares me. Something really needs to be done.
