I think they should. its just as much the fathers child as it is the mothers. and half the time the mothers arent even fit to take care of the kids...or her parents are doing it. the father needs to be just as involved in the childs life as the mothers. no kid needs their mother more then they need their father. they need both equally. i think the biggest problem is that most mothers try to take revenge on their ex after separating and to hurt him the most, they try and take the child away. only way the father shouldnt be equally involved is if he puts the childs life in danger and it goes the same for the mother.

My life is hard enough after splitting with my wife not seeing my children each and every day, I settle to a phone call at 18:30 everynight before they go to bed and 2 to 3 days a week.
Men should have the same rights as women, to care for the children, but the childrens intrest should be put first. if you worked long hours and she worked part time, surley the children would be better off with their mother, but you should have all the accsess you need, and not be restricted from seeing your children, aslo any big decsions in their life should be decided by both of you.

or short answer: yes

If the father is a good one yes i believe so... There is just as much father to the baby and the mother and a child needs to have both parents if possiable... I don't believe that one should have more rights than the other... However I do believe that both parents should work together as a team..Both deciding on what is best for the child. Good luck

I don't know about the 9th amendment and to tell you the truth I could go on all day about the rights of women vs. men so don't go there with it but, having said that...

I think that physical custody should be decided on the basis of who is more interested, better equipped to take care of the child. Coupled with the child's input on who he or she would rather live with.

The reason for the traditional decision of giving custody to the mother is the father's usual work schedule. With mothers working that is changing, has changed.

I have seen more and more father's gaining sole physical custody of their children with the mother taking the visitation that fathers usually get.

I think it depends (unfortunately) upon the judge and his opinions about parents, divorce, child rearing and gender roles.

Things ARE changing, as they should be.

I take it your parents are divorced. And yes your father should have equal rights however one parent usually has custody so that parent seems to get more time with the child.
If your father is up to date with everything the court set as a ruling then he should never be denied the rights the court granted him.
If he is not the custodial parent, then make your days with him special ones.... I'm sure he misses you too.

I do believe that a father should have the same rights as a mother as long as the father is of the same morals, responsibility and free from problems with drugs, alcohol, gambling, risky sex and mental and emotional problems.

I think they should as long as they do what they are suppose to...It is not only women who take care of their children...I know a couple of single dads who have custody of their child and the mother is not in the kids life_

i believe so if it is earned by either parent. if the father is there for his child and supports the child both emotionally and financially. that is if the father is the non-custodial parent.

The day fathers start giving birth to kids the rights will be *exactly* the same.
