I sometimes know where I'm headed ... but sometimes like to just follow the road and see where it takes me. I think thats the times I love most seeing something somewhere I wasn't planning on .. you know?

Sometimes I know exactly where I'm going, That is to work, to the store, etc. Sometimes I just go out and ride with no idea where I'm going or where I'll end up. All I know is that when I get back I'm always in a better mood and most of the things I had on my mind are gone. It's like therapy or something. I think it has something to do with the wind in your face, new things to see, hear and smell and the general sense of freedom with no expectations placed on you. Even when I know where I'm going I never am sure on the route I'll take to get there. My wife often asks me why it took me so long to go a short distance. My standard answer is that bikes never go direct and they always take the long way. She's stopped asking.

That depends. Since I ride almost as much as humanly possible, I usually do. Like to work, the store, a friend's, etc. The rest of the time, I ride to get out, so the destination is not decided. Many are the times I have left the house with the intention of getting lost. My only dissappointment is that I find my way back too easily.

i've done a bit of both. last season, i decided to do a bit of exploration, did alot of twisty carving, and wound up near marietta ohio (i live in warren). since it was gettin a bit late in the day, my bud and i decided to map out a cross country route to the interstate to get home a bit quicker. was the best ride i've had yet. put in a tad over 400 miles that day with no monkey butt syndrome. we didnt stop for very long except for gas and some eats. ran for 2 to 3 hrs on the superslab alone gettin home, and that was with no stops. i found out a sportster could make a long cruise comfortably...it's all in the seat.

Just jump on and let it all hang out,That's the most fun to me. No destination, No planning, Just riding.
On the other hand, if your riding alone its nice to let someone know the general direction you plan on going. With all the old and crazy drivers out there who don't yield to bikers, you never know..

I ride my motorcycle for two reasons. First, sometimes I commute to work on it. Second, I just set out and ride. There's something freeing about being on a bike and just riding. You see, hear, and smell the world like you simply can't in a car.

Normally where I live it is approximately 1 mile to the post office when I drive my wife's Car but when I take my bike it is 50 to 100 miles I don't know why that is I have tried to figure it out.
