You'll be able to start picking up on it once you start meeting more lesbians, you'll pick up on subtle things that you notice more on a subconscious level....so it'll be more of an impression than anything else, but truely you don't know, unless they tell you, or you see them making out with a girl, but then again...they could just be drunk. So asking them is the best bet, if you're unsure. You may even want to go to some of the gay bars, if you're old enough. There are mostly guys there, but the girls aren't going to be offended or think that you're trying to hit on them, just because you asked that question. If you're gaydar gets really good you can distiguish not only gay males and lesbians, but you can usually figure out bisexuals and which way they lean more toward...and also you can pick up on whether a guy is metro sexual and not gay. That's advanced gaydar, but you've got a ways to go before achieving that level of gayday. Good luck!

I'd almost agree with Roxthegreat's answer, if it weren't so offencive.
Also, not all "butch" looking women are lesbians. So, don't use that as an indicator at all. I know a lot of straight women who are very active who look a bit on the butch side, but are most definitely straight. Some just really feel more comfortable in "masquline" apparal as well.

But, yeah, gay or lesbian night clubs and bars are a good place to meet some. But beware, some straight women like to hang out in gay bars too...they can dance with men and not worry that they'll get hit on.
Rainbow jewelery, female on female symbols or a "lambda" symbol are great indicators as well.
Some of us even have retro "W.E." hats or t-shirts...it was a clothing line that meant "We're Everywhere" that was exclusive to the LGBT community...dependent upon where you are.
But some ultra-femmes are really hard to distinguish from glammed up straight girls.

You say, "Are you a lesbian?" If the answer is "NO" then they are not, if the answer is "yes" then they are. I know this is complex method but it really is the only way. I think what you are trying to ask is how do you know if it is ok to ask someone on a date or you are trying to find other lesbian girls. You might want to see if there is a Lesbian dating service or lesbian group for singles in your town. Maybe you can find a girlfriend there. Hope this helps.

some ways to find a gay girl you could go to a lesbian club.
for gaydar i guess "EYES" you know what i mean? they make contact and also body language.

Look for any rainbow jewelry, them checking out other women. Do they look like a boy, maybe slightly on the butch side? Butch bi*ches are usually carpet munchers. You could always ask them?! Go to some gay bars, they are so much fun and you meet some really cool people there! You could try wearing some rainbow gear youself sweety, advertise that you like chicks!!
