You would be trespassing on crown land and land owned by about 5 other countries. Read a map and see if there is any unclaimed land. When you find there isn't and you go and stake your flag, be prepared to be moved out by an army just like Argentina when they tried to claim the Falkland islands in the 80's.
I think you are a simple person who doesn't look into what they want to do before they try to do it. Try it on the US section, see how long before they blow you to hell with a jet attack you silly person.
It will make good TV though. I'll be watching for laughs.

How much does the job pay? There are lots of folks that would try to prevent you from breaking international treaties. Google "Antarctica Treaty". Read it and see if it is worth the risk. Who knows. Some wealthy financier just may back you. Would you set up a monarchy? republic? democracy? aristocracy? Let's hear your plan.

I don't think Antarctica meets all the requirements for a full-blown country, so it doesn't have a leader. I also think that the land, and ice, is international territory.

I and my followers have executed a stunning coup d'etat and I am now the President of Antarctica. I have exiled you to an ice floe covered in penguin droppings.

It hasn't been conquered yet - its an independent republic ruled by penguins. When all the ice melts, they'll find the remains of Atlantis underneath - then you'll be in trouble!
Seriously, the continent is owned by no one country by international agreement and has been set aside for scientific study.

It doesn't, because it's al ice. If you get your way, I'd love to join you. Otherwise, I'd like to say that 'Dashes' above gave the best answer. I vote on it, but I don't have enough points yet!

No country owns antarctica, it's all by itself. Which makes it perfectly vulnerable for a well schemed onslaught!!! I say, less do this thang!
