How do i update my iPod nano?

When ever i click help then update it says the version of itunes is the current version then when i go to my iPod nano no music is there why is that?

plug it in and when your ipod icon shows up(when i tunes opens there will be a small ipod looking icon) then just drag your music to that box from your library and it will automatically update if you have it set to manual

Set iTunes to download all your music to your iPod automatically. Then plug it in
