Germany probably should have won the 2002 World Cup. Oliver Kahn's level of play should have been enough to help his team be victorious over Brazil, but his strikers couldn't find the back of the net. In 2006, however, Jans Lehmann wasn't nearly as consistent as Kahn's play had been, which allowed the Italians the victory. Put that together with Buffon's amazing net-minding during the tournament and it is easy to see how Italy won the World Cup last year.

In 2002 I don't think Germany should have won. Brazil was just a lot better during that match-up. But in 2006 Germany was playing outstanding football!!! Their semis clash with Italy was decided with which team would make a very slight mistake (which Germany committed). It was so close! And that is from a quarterfinal against also one of the favorites which went down the wire (PK's) after being tied. To sum things up, Germany faced Italy after a very gruelling and physically draining match. If ever Germany faced a less fancied team in the quarters they could have probably (just probably) have won against Italy and had a shot for the trophy.

I think they were lucky to get to the Final in 2002, and if the draw had been different a stronger team might have played against Brazil. In 2006 they performed well and deserved a place in the Final, although I don't think they would have beaten France.
Their overall World Cup record is outstanding, and the two times they have hosted have both been a big success.

Well, 2002 one maybe they were not lucky enough...
But the 2006 one! The Italians! They cheated!!!!

Germany has many youngsters and even they could beat a strong country like Argentina!
If they could beat Argentina that means they could beat Italy too!!!

IN 2002 they deserved the cup but they couldent stop the Brazilians. They were on fire!!!!!!!!!!But in 2006 i heard the team wasnt good as expected, they actually lost 4-1 to italy in a friendly before the WC. That can tell u a reason why they lost 2-0 to Italy. But i think they had a good run being in their home country.

Of course every organizer aims to win the trophy but in in this case we all know Germany is one of the 5 best in world football unfortunately things did not go their way.
