You need to call the vet. He could have some sort of upper respiratory infection, that if left untreated could prove fatal.

It may be something less drastic, (like an allergy) but only a vet could tell you for sure.

One thing to consider: How often do you clean his cage and completely change out his "bedding"? (I forget what those little chips are that they frequently sleep in.) Check with a local vet or Petsmart to find out how often you should do that. If his litter (or whatever it's called) is allowed to get dirty with urine or excrement, then it could make him sick.

Finally, ask the doctor about the food you're giving him. They may suggest a change there as well, especially if allergies are a problem.

Good luck! Hope this helps....

They can get pneumonia very easily and you need to take him to a vet ASAP. my sons just passed away. We had the same prob. it was fine one day and then t5 days later it began to choke and it turns out that the tank it was in while we fixed the other tank, was not well ventilated or the vet said that it was possible that he got sopa in his nostril while giving it a head washing. either way, theyare sensitive and you need to have it looked at. the ealier the beter the vet said it would have lived if we were to start it on meds sooner

Your pig is just coughing. Is there any thing in the house that could be bothering it? My pigs cough all the time and they are healthy!
