I'm planning on getting one, and my OB/Gyn wants me to decide between Mirena and Paraguard. I don't have any friends or family members who use one, so I'm just looking to hear if anyone else has one and what they think of it. Had any problems or complications? Thanks.

I currently have a Paragard IUD. I was on HBC for about 2 years and decided to get off it and never go back.

While my periods are heavier and I have slightly worse cramps, it is managable and worth not having hormones. As I still have a sex drive and sex isn't painful anymore.

Plus, 10-12 years of protection for a $25 co-pay is well worth it.

My boyfriend has no problems with the string poking him, and while he's much better at finding my strings, I can find them when I need to.

I had paraguard. There was no problems on my end, but my husband had a problem. The cord irritated him during intercourse. We had no plans of having any more children, as we have two allready. I got my tubes tied instead.

Well my best friend had one. It moved into her uterus and now she has a five month old and had to have surgery to get the IUD removed. I'm sure she was a rare case but be careful. Oh and I heard they really really hurt getting inserted

I did have Mirena & it was wonderful. It makes your period lighter or non-existant. No pain at all going in or out.
