There was a 1982 TV Movie starring Valerie Harper called DON'T GO TO SLEEP in which the dead girl (who burned in a car explosion) haunts her surviving sister (who may have caused her death). I distinctly remember the sister ominously using a pizza cutter to cut the phone line so her mother couldn't call for help. It also had a creepy ending.
