i drive a civic hatch eg6 and my motor has blown and i replaced it with a dx motor. i have driven with the dx motor but it never rev at 4300 in my other civic. i put it in my other civic and test drove it the rev limit is 4300 it should be like round 7000. what is the problem and how do i fix it.

Maybe at 4,300 you won't blow another engine, at 7,000 you know you already have. The DX, by the way, develops max horsepower at about 6,300, and uses probably maximum fuel, but max torque is at 4,300.

Was the new engine from an automatic, and did you also change the ECU?
If an automatic ECU is fitted to a manual it will not get all the information about the car it needs to run properly. Normally a rev limit of 4300rpm is imposed on an automatics engine is it is revved with the autobox in the park (P) position, to safeguard the autobox.

The typical honda engine rev limit (technically "fuel cutoff") is 6,700 RPM on all D and F series engines (3-5th generation civics and accords). Are you getting a check engine light? if so, a dying or dead fuel injector will tell the ECU there is a failure, and the ECU will reset into a low-rpm cutoff point to keep worse things from happening.

Um the factory set the rev limit where it is for a reason so dont mess with it. And if its like my car it isnt the actual limit. My car wont let you rev it past 4000 if youre sitting still but if your driving and get on it it will go to 6500 but in regualr driving it really doesnt need to go past 3500-4000

sounds like a vtech problem...did they install a vtech motor in place of one...sounds like the motor thats instialled isnt compatable with your computer in your vehicle...u need to make sure that its the correct motor they should most definetly run a higher rpm than that

You will prob find dx means it is a diesel. as they require much higher combustion pressures and generally have heavier internals they cant rev as hard as a petrol. If it is a petrol motor it could be faulty ignition leads or possibly a leaking head gasket(prob between cylinders)

check your stock ignition coil ohm if it does'nt pass the test replace it. also i assume your talking about stock system.
