I read on the internet that olive skin always has warm undertones. Is this true? I think my skin is olive but I look better in cool colours that warm colours, but maybe it isn't olive, maybe it's supposed to be called something else, I don't know. Now I am so confused.

If olive isn't the right word I don't know why there is no other word for skin that is darker than the average white person but lighter than brown.

No it doesn't. I too have olive skin but look better in cool colors because all skin is different. The trick is to find make-up that looks good on you. Don't read those guides that tell you what looks good, Find out for yourself. Like the eyesets from one of the makeup companies that is suppose to bring out your eye color. I looked like I was hung over, so they were dead wrong.

Yes-olive skin always has warm undertones. Olive is a very specific shade, and is always a trait that is accompanied by dark brown or black hair. People with this skin tone normally tan very easily, and don't get sunburned easily. Skin almost appears to have an "olive" or green/brown tone. If you can tell from my tiny little picture, I have olive skin.

Don't worry about ti too much anyway. Warms and cools in makeup colors are objective anyway. Wear what you like, and don't be bothered by any industry standards, because none of us fit a mold. They are just a generalization-not an absolute. What colors we look best in are determined by a number of other factors, such as our age, hair and eye color, the clothes we have on, etc. So just figure out what's best for YOU by trial and error, and forget about what the so called experts say. Besides-there are only two classes of undertones, and there are a million different combinations of ethnicities of people. We can't possibly all fit that standard.

yes, olive skin is warm-toned. See if your library has a copy of "Color Me Beautiful" for tips on skin tones and what colors will look good on you.
