Depends what kind of pessimist you are. Do you just sit around and moan about life? Or do you just always see the bad but still live a constructive life? If you're the former, you're taking up food and air that could be better used by someone else. If you're the latter, then you're one of the good guys.
Pessimists are people who aren't afraid to see the logical conclusion to a bad situation (ie, we don't delude ourselves), while all the optimists are dancing around saying nothing's wrong. So we're often important agents of change in a society.
I'm a fellow pessimist, and here's a quote from George Bernard Shaw that I love:
"Reasonable people adapt themselves to the world. Unreasonable people attempt to adapt the world to themselves. All progress, therefore, depends on unreasonable people."
By the way, there's a book you might want to look at called "Learned Optimism" by Martin Seligman. It won't necessarily change you, but it'll help you understand the different ways the pessimist's brain works from the optimist's.

Hey listen to this to be a pessimist is good about somethings, like if someone promised to pay you in a week and they keep telling you 3 weeks later that the check is in the mail, it is okay to be a pessimist, because the check is not coming.
And by the by there is no hell, in the hereafter there is only heaven and there are many kingdoms, it is all what you choose. Be positive no matter if you are a pessimist/optimist, you just dont need to be negative about either.

You're already in hell by being a pessimist. You are robbing yourself of much joy in life by viewing everything in this way. But thinking makes it so. As you think, so you will see. We shape our realities by our thoughts and ideas. And if you want to see the bad in everything, you will find it. Negativity can be kept alive by a pessimistic mind. But you are missing the true nature of life and reality. There are great variations in the degree of all things, so to see everything from a pessimistic viewpoint, is to paint everything that is truly colored with a black overshadowing that hides what beauty and truth lie beneath.

No you won't go to hell for being a pessimist. Nobody goes to heaven perfect. Trust me, God's criteria for judging is beyond what anyone can imagine or measure, and I know whoever told you that wasn't God.
I think the only kind of pessimism that can ensure your ticket to hell is when you think that God won't forgive you anymore. That's when you refuse to repent and give up you faith.
Other than that, please lighten up. I mean, just because pessimism won't send you to hell doesn't mean you'll want to be a pessimist until you go to heaven, right? Right. Ü

The Hell for a pessimist is his pessimism, no matter wherever he is or goes, alive or dead.
