It's not just in the States. I don't live in the states and i have come across my fair share of fat/obese animals. The three saddest cases being a Border Collie, Golden Retriever and a Chihuahua that could be mistaken as a volley ball with legs. Couple of Siberian Huskies (though not a lot), Beagles, ACD I could really go on. The most horrifically overweight ones I have seen with my own two eyes were the three I first mentioned. The Border Collie - was a dog that came into the shelter I volunteer at for a groom, she could not stand for long and I could not hold her up myself. The Golden - She was an old friends dog, didn't get walked and was constantly fed basically whatever her owners ate. The Chihuahua - I am surprised her legs havent broken.
