As a teenager, maybe not. It's wrong, and it encourages the wrong kind of acceptance and discriminations, but that's just the way it is. The most popular kids in any high school will be wearing all of the expensive brands, and there's no getting around that. But as you get older, it really doesn't matter. Unless you are on tv or in magazines, no one notices what brand of anything you have on. Mature people don't spend their days keep tabs on what the tags say on everyone's clothes. Attractiveness has nothing to do with any brand name. Just wear what you like, what you think you look good in, and what makes you feel good about yourself. High school can be a little cruel that way some times. But even then, confidence in yourself will overcome any kind of stereotype like that.

Just because it is expensive doesnt mean it is cute. I think it depends on your own personal style. Abercrombie and Hollister have some cute things. The problem is if you wear it, you run into the chance as having the same shirt as every sophmore in highschool - and that is emberassing esp when you have been out of highschool for 6 years! So pretty much the only thing those stores are good for is cute beach cover-ups -

Don't worry about Abercrombie and Hollister - nobody over the age of 16 in their right mind wears that stuff. I know, I harassed my parents into buying probably $8,000 worth of that stuff in junior high and I feel bad now! I really like nice clothes, but I really splurge on jeans, handbags, uggs, and hoodies because those are what I use the most and insist on having quality so I will only buy those things at Nordstrom, Bloomingdales, eluxury, Neiman's, etc. I will spend any amount of money on those things, but I love to look for bargains too!

No. Expensive clothes look better, and are stiched better, using better quality materials. Patterns will be continuous on all good shirts. Quality clothes will fit better as well.

You get what you pay for. However, opt for timeless style, and not dumb trends that will drain your wallet. A classic wardrobe never goes out of style. Abercrombie used to be an adventurer outfitter back in the day. I am sure they are better quality then say Target brand, and they have a reputation to live up to. Personally I find their style to be obnoxious.

It is better to buy a few good clothes then a bunch or crap that falls apart and looks bad.

Yes, but there is a line at which you can tell the quality of clothing by the price tag. My rule of thumb (which I'm trying with limited success to teach my kids, ha) is that you should stock your wardrobe with high quality, basic clothing, and accent with some more trendy, less expensive things. But spending a ton on something just because it has a specific brand is lunacy! You can find high quality clothing without spending a fortune.

Abercrombie and Hollister are not expensive clothes- they are trendy overrated rags.

If you want to see expensive clothes go to Nieman Marcus- some of the stuff there is worth it, though. Beautiful, classic, and will never go out of style.

personally me and all my friends HATE hollister and aber, cuz they're just for wanna-be popular, wanna-be preps, and have no variety, but some expensive clothes are priced so high for a reason. they're often nice quality classics, but with trendy clothes, go for urbanoutfitters or oldnavy or somthing like that....but also has anyone noticed that everyone on this website is OBSESSED w/ hollister and a&f and aeropostale.? no one at my school is AT ALL except a little bit of aber, bbut we're the peace, love, and happiness types... yep thse stupid trendy stores are overrated, but not all expensive clothes are

I think expensive clothes are overrated because some of the clothing stores won't let you return them if they are damaged. I wouldn't go after expensive clothing but maybe something in my budget.

Those kind of stores suck out the individuality in many people. I would find clothes that are cuter in Macy's. Just buy whatever that feels right, not what everyone is wearing.

Expensive clothes are over rated! people worry too much about the tag instead of what they look like!
