This is what I have. I have a sump, about thirty gallons in the floor, the drains around the house with exception of the sewer of course, drain into it. This includes the washer.
It would be a big job for you to put one of these in the floor. I would say, a barrel of about ten to fifteen gallons next to the washer drain then a sump !/2 horse to pump it up to the first floor. You'll have to put a filter (a piece of window screen) over the end so it doesn't clog with lint in time. And simply have the sump pump it up.
A good single stage unit from Fleet supply, Tractor supply, Home Depot, for about $80.00 could go right into the barrel and cover it.

There is a serious project you are about to get into...
Have the wash water drain into a plastic 35 gal barrel. using a water alarm to trigger a relay that'll turn on you vertical "waste pump". The vertical lift is the question... Any industrial supply place can set you up but I think a 1 hp waste pump will work.

If it is water from a washing machine only, a sump pump in a barrel can be used. If there is sewage involved it must be a closed pit with a sewage pump. There should always be a one way check valve in the pipe to prevent gravity backwashing.
