AN IRON WILL BURN YOUR DOG.

2007-01-05 15:56:01 · answer #1 · answered by Anonymous · 0 0

what type of dog is it?
you do mean with a flat iron, right?
I would say that using heat products would only make it worse, i have a Maltese...talk about bad hair on a dog...my dog's hair is just like trying to wash, comb and dry a stinking cotton ball.
Try this out and see it it helps, it helps me out quite a bit....

Purchase a good dog shampoo and a good conditioner.
Also, a detangeler to use when combing the hair.
Trim about an inch to and inch and a half to get rid of split or damaged ends.
use a brush rather than a hair damaging comb.
Always blow dry on a low cool setting, never use heat.
Don't use people shampoo/hair products......or delute them if you need too.
Keep the ends cut regularly.
If all else fells, go to a groomer and have the dog groomed or just settle on a more manageable hair cut for your dog.Which is what i ended up doing for my dog...hit mats began to get terrible and harder to loosen.
But, to answer your question, if you really want to flat iron your dog's hair and can do it w.o getting to close to it's skin...i think it would be OK.A friend of mine does her dog...but...be warned..its so damaging that once you start it's hard to stop.Your dog hair will look even worse when not flat ironed and will crinkle up even worse when it gets wet.And will also become harder and harder to brush.

No; use detangler. If you have to, cut the hair shorter. But don't try ironing a dog's hair.

Why don't you give him/her a bath and then give him/her a hair cut. I REALLy don't think you should try to iron him/her. If you burn him/her it may be animal abuse.

in my opinion, i wouldn't iron it because if the dog begins to move or rattles up then you might burn it by accident.

I'm sure you're joking! But if you have to do something just use some creme rinse and comb him out and maybe a light trim using small scissors.
