Anybody welcome! If you're from Texas or have lived there, you're especially welcome to chime in.

Aren't we the greatest state? The Alamo, Riverwalk, State Capitol, 6th Street in Austin, Zilker Park, Austin City Limits, George W. Bush, Guadalupe Mountains, Big Bend, canyons, desert, piney woods, crystal clear lakes, the Gulf, multiculturalism, food, Houston Astros (no offense to you Rangers fans,) high school football, Stevie Ray Vaughan, Fort Worth Stockyards, friendly people, the most gorgeous (and real) women, etc.

I need to shut up now, don't I? Long live the Republic!

I'm from Texas, and it's just like every other state, some people are good and others are bad. I'm sure there are mean people in Nebraska, and people who are really nice also. You can't generalize an ENTIRE state based on a few people you have met. It's idiotic.

Property tax rates, Insurance rates, MUD taxes, and a spotty educational system. Some places the educational system is great, but other places in Texas have horrible school districts.

Yes, I know there is no income tax there, which I why I keep a small place there. But my house in Texas is taxed more than my house in Colorado which is worth at least 10 times as much money. Plus, the insurance on both those two houses are comparable, even though one is much more valuable.

Plus, I've been to Galveston. Gotta hate those tar sands beaches.

Where did you find any real women in Texas? The only ones I've seen were plastic and hairspray, with fake everything... and I've not found many friendly people in the 20 years I've been here. Most of them think they're too good to talk to someone new. And the stupidity of the drivers is amazing. You'd think a 63 Cadillac would be visible, wouldn't you. They pull out in front of you like you're a ghost.

The grass turns brown in the winter and the summer.
The 4 seasons are Hot,Holy Crap!,Hot, & Not So Hot.
Brown Riclueses...I probably spelled it wrong.
Scorpians.
There are spurs in the grass!
Fire ants
Taranchalas
Its over run by deer among other things.
You can't plant KY Blue Grass...I'm Not from KY just like the grass.
Taxes are high!
Cedar Fever
Some Schools have infant seats on the buses for teen moms to take baby to school with.
TAKS test
But after all this.........I love the armadillos, roadrunners and the fact that no other state that I have been to takes such pride in themselves like the Texans do.

Yes, Texas is a wonderful state and everything you mentioned are wonderful attractions with the exception of George Bush and I personally wish you all had kept him there. He obviously didn't think it was as great as you do or he wouldn't have left it for Washington D.C.
