C -- steepness or slope is rise (change in Y value or vertical value) over run (change in X value or horizontal value)

Steepness is also known as the "slope" of a line. The slope is equal to the rise of the line (height or vertical change) divided by the run of the line (length or horizontal change), so I'm going to say "C" is the answer.

It's rise over run, isn't it? Vertical change divided by horizontal change, yes?

You can see that A. and B. are the same answer, except for the spelling error, so it can't be them. This question must have been posed by a publik skool teacher.

C.

m = y/x

m = slope, y = vertical change, x = horizontal change.

So if you had a line with coordinates (2, 4) and (5, 9), the slope would be (y2-y1)/(x2-x1) which would be (9-4)/(5-2) which would be a slope of 5/3.

The steepness of a line is equal to rise over run.

This mean, how much it rises in the vertical direction, over how much it moves in the horizontal direction.

So, C.

the slope/steepness of a line is rise over run!
learn that!
rise over run!

repeat it three times "rise over run!"

so the answer is C: vertical [rise] divided [over] horizontal [run]

C. The equation is:

the y value of point A minus the y value of point B
over
the x value of point A minus the x value of point B

I hope that helps. The question is refering to slopes of a line in a graph.

Well steepness is slope and slope is equal to rise so C would make the most sense. hope this helped

I don't know the answer but when I was completing my Math college courses I used the website, www.sparknotes.com. It is very helpful and even has open discussion forums where people will assist you. Hope this helps in the future!

Are you sure you don't mean 'the SLOPE of a line is equal to...'?

I'm not familiar with 'steepness'. So I can't solve your problem. But if it was slope, I'd go with C.
