16. My parents wouldn't let me date till then (im 17 now, bout to turn 18.) it's better to wait til that age bc by then you've matured somewhat and its about that time when you can start making your own decisions (in a way.) Dating before that just results to early pregnancy...

I do not thing age is the important factor.
Maturity is key. I did not date until I met my current husband. I married at 18 and we just celebrated our one year anniversary. Many thought we were crazy, but our parents were supportive because they knew our maturity best. We have a beautiful and amazing relationship and we are much more mature than many adults we know. A good friend of mine from my community college who is 30 years old always says "when I grow up I want to be like you." So, I think it is all about a maturity and understanding of themselves and the purpose of relationships,as well as having a realistic perspective about what they entail. That being said, I do not think that kind of maturity can be reached until at LEAST 16/17. Even then though....it's a RARE girl who is really ready. I think the longer you wait the better. The best way to tell when someone is ready is if they can honestly say that they could be happy the rest of their lives without a relationship. If a girl gets in a relationship with hopes to complete her, she will be left dissapointed. Relationships are complicated and take a lot out of you. Girls (and guys) should only start dating when they have a clear and realistic outlook on who they are, and the purpose of dating in their lives.

I started dating when I was 16, but I didn't I didn't officially start dating until I was 20. 16 is a pretty good age I think to start dating.

Well that depends on your definition of "dating"
You can out on dates, go to the movies together & dinner unsupervised stuff like that or like most kids now adays you can be asked "out" then you can call them your girl/boyfriend, you see each other mostly at school. No kissing it's just mainly to be able to say you have a "boy/girlfriend" You break up in a few weeks get a new one to pair off with. it's more like predating.
When I was a kid I wasn't allowed to date either way until I was 15-16y. I alway thoought that was so unfair.
now I'm a mother of a 14y daughter & an 11y son and both have a "boy or girlfriend" I had to be talked into letting my son have a girlfriend since my daughter was older then that when I let her have one. But now a days all the kids in his grade have one too.

I dont think that there is an age thing. because if it comes to a point where you really love someone or like them alot then I think go for it. Dont let numbers stop you. Love can come at any age age is just a number. just do whta you wanna do.
