In My opinion it has to be Cannibal Corpse not only their music but look at their success!! Cannibal Corpse is probably my Favorite death metal band then its Cryptopsy and then comes the Grindcore Death Metal..

I find Cannibal Corpse boring, but Cryptopsy are awesome.
I would say the only answer is the almighty DEATH. (R.I.P. Chuck!) Listen to the albums Scream Bloody Gore, Human and Symbolic if you haven't.

I can say that i agree with you about the cannibal corpse, even not in 100% agree but yes, they are one of the best death metal band.
What i can say that cannibal corpse is the opener of the gates, so then people do respect this kind of music, they are a very famous death metal band which make people take a look at this genre, and respect it.
My fav is their first mighty album : Eaten back to life.

Death metal is okay in general, but I'd have to say Cannibal Corpse is disproportionaly superior to every other death band that they are not only THE best death metal band, but one of the best metal bands of all time. they have clever titles/lyrics, awesome music, cool cover art, and altogether consistent quality albums and performances. I mean, theres Metallica, Black Sabbath, Iron Maiden, and Cannibal Corpse. those four bands, if you ask me, best represent each sub-category of metal. So yeah, Cannibal Corpse is the best death metal band ever. Of course!!

Assuck is my favorite "grindcore" band, but they're more political than death metal. Of course, with these vocals, I can never tell what they're saying anyway.

I would have to go with cannibal corpse also.
I also like Cradle of Filth, Arch Enemy, Trivium, Slayer, Skindred, and Crotch Duster.
You should really check out Crotch Duster. They are great!

There is no such thing as the best death metal band. They all sound the same and they all suck. Move along to something that actually has musical aspects to it.
