1. Purchase a static wrist strap and grounding mat (Approx. $15 at Radio Shack)

2. Turn the computer off.

3. Leave it plugged in (the ground pin in the plug end aids in grounding the unit).

4. Open the case (if tools are needed for this, make certain they are NON-MAGNETIC)

5. Lay the unit on it's side on top of the grounding mat and attach the mat's grounding strap to the metal case edge.

6. With one end of the wrist strap clamped to a metal case edge and the other end around your wrist, briefly touch a metal edge of the case. (This removes your accumulated static charges)

7. Locate the available memory next to the existing memory module: Pushing straight down and evenly across the length of the chip, insert the new memory chip into the slot. (The retaining latches on both sides of the memory slot will flip up and into precut recesses on the memory chip when properly executed.)

8. Verify that the memory chip is seated properly and boot the computer.

9. Verify that your new memory is recognized and that the computer is functioning properly.

10. Close the computer case

TIP 1: *The chip only fits the slot in one direction.

TIP 2: *In some instances to prevent mainboard damage, you may have to support the edge of the mainboard with one hand while pressing the memory chip into the slot.

TIP 3: You can view a flash based memory installation demo at - http://www.kingston.com/support/howto/default.asp

TIP 4: You'll also find specific instructions (in pdf form) for your brand of computer at - http://www.kingston.com/support/install/memory/default.asp

Anyone with common sense can change ram

Turn off the PC. Pull out the power cord. Touch the case every now and then to remove static buildup
Locate the RAM Slots
Press the 2 latches down
Remove old RAM
Align new RAM with RAM Slot (there is a notch just above the middle)
If it goes in squarely then you're done

For ram timings / speeds pleae ask another question :)

4 gigs is fairly strong. it's going to be sufficient till you intend on operating a good number of courses at the same time or operating with huge images in Photoshop or something like that. i'm not a gamer in any respect, so i do not learn about that area of it. yet i do not ignore that extreme sport enthusiasts spend a lot extra on their machines than that to get sufficient raw processing skill. in addition they many times upload suitable-end pics playing cards. you're in all likelihood searching at $2,000 up for a actual gaming gadget.

Hey - if I can do it, you can! The trick is to find the right memory stick that is compatable to your pc (which you've already done!). Once you figure that out, just open the case, pop it in, and reboot. Lastly, you'll need to tweak the page size files in order to get the most use out of your new memory (this is probably what Baz above is refering to)!

Piece of cake. Ground yourself to remove any static electricity.
A spark from static electricity could damage the electronics.

If you have to ask, I would say some things are best left to the pros. I don't attempt to mess with the hardware. It costs a few dollars but saves a lot of aggravation in the long run.

It should be, but I've seen some interesting mistakes. Just make sure you are grounded (not in reality but from static electricity). & it should go in smoothly, if you have to force it... it's probably not aligned correctly.
