Well you might not need a driver. If your Burner is internal, you DON"T need one; even the external ones usually have built-in xp drivers or automatically installs from windows update. You need cd burning software. Windows media player 9, 10, 11 burn cds BUT at a max speed of 4x........not good when you have a 40x burner. I doubt you will be able to download nero (the best and default for hp burners) from hp.com but you can try. www.nero.com
You can download a free 30 day full-version trial and either buy the software or someting.

If your computer is under warrnaty still, call HP and ask them what they can do for you. ALL CD BURNERS usually come with burning software. The question is can you get them to send you another copy.
