After highschool, making friends becomes work. They are not there every day from 8am-3pm. It's tough to keep up with regular friends, let alone a best friend. Best friends are really rare. And it's okay if you don't have one. Enjoy all the friends that you have. My best friend is my husband. No one else comes close. I always thought I had 'best friends' in high school, but those relationships do not compare to the one I have with my husband. I am assuming you probably aren't married, and I'm not suggesting you go out and marry the first guy you see so you can have a best friend...lol. But just know that it's okay if you don't. Just invest as much as you desire into the friends you do have. Maybe you will get super close with one of them. You never know. All it takes is a little effort. Asking a friend to go out to dinner or watch a movie. Let the relationships build from there, sharing personal stuff little by little. After highschool friendships take lots of effort. But they are worth it. So don't be afraid to call people up and just hang out :)
*In addition to your added details: find a goof friend anywhere. Join a singles activities group, join a club at college, get to know a friend in class, find people at work, go to activities you enjoy and initiate conversation. People are everywhere, and as you can see by a lot of these answers, most people desire a close friendship just like you do. All it takes is one person to initiate.

Yeah, most of the so called friends are self-absorbed. Run their mouths, and are undependable. Backstabbers. I guess that is why I have quite a few male friends. And, they love me back. Minus the sexual tension..........because I know their outs and ins.
I call people I hang out with associates until they earn the right to be called a true friend. The only true friend I ever had was in elementary school and that dissolved later on in High School when her cousin appeared on the scene.........not really a friendship huh? Exactly. Best friend...NO....I have none and I am over 20.

I consider my boyfriend my bestfriend, but thats not the same..I never had a best friend...It sucks sometimes. I wish I could have a female or male to call my best friend, but I don't, and I wonder if it's me or if I just can't find a really cool down to earth person like me to hang with. Im 21 by the way...

My wife would have to be my best friend but that's a little bit of a cop out because shouldn't everyone's spouse be their "best friend" Other than that, I've had friends but up to this point, never a "best friend" that kept that status and I'm 29 years old. I guess I'm either really picky or not very likable

Hi I'm now over 26, and don't have any best friend.
I had one till I was 23, but once he came here to visit me from a foreign country, he was taking advantage of me and my mom told me about that. I didn't even realize it until she made me see that so then I didn't consider him best friend anymore.
