You can personalize your own webpage, with your interests, what types of movies//music//books etc that you like, and you can write about yourself. You can gain virtual "friends" that you can comment each other's pages on. You can send messages to anyone on the site (you don't have to be someone's friend to do that), you can upload pictures and recieve comments on them, and so forth. You also can post bulletins for everyone on your friends' list can see. The website is quite addicting...and it's a great way to meet people from all around the world.

"b/c you can find all of your long-lost buddies on there and get reaquainted!! It is fun! :) " Yes but y ou need to say what you mean. Myspace is a number of things; its majorly a blog. Blogs are new things on the net; its a simple way for a novice computer user to create a personal appearance web site. They usually have tags where you can leave your shout-outs and etc. There are blogs created for clubs, groups - note all the artists on there - where the tags are used for announcing news and events for the organization or artist.
Yahoo groups (groups.yahoo.com) was the first blog server on the net; it took 5 years before anyone took interest in making blogs thanks to Myspace as a way to "find longlost buddies" or for free dating alternatives to the pay sites.
Myspace might soon kill AIM, yahoo messenger, and other Instant messanging programs with MyspaceIM. I believe this because ALL of my friends are on myspace or at least have a profile but NOT ALL have yahoo. With this in mind, in order to talk to my other friends not on yahoo i would have to swtich between programs OR i don't have to.

I dislike My Space and more and more people are saying so now that they have given it a try. I think it is mostly for the single scene. A lazy way to meet and net work with people in your area.

I really have no clue. I have a myspace page and I have found people from school that I have not seen in years that it is kinda nice to see how they are now, but I don't live there like some people I know.

Because it's a huge networking gimick; people can hook up, run into old friends (ran into an old elementary school pal), and even go into business networking. Indie rock bands can put samples of their music on their site.
It can also be risky because it's basically a shopping mall for sexual predators.

Because the emo kids like to think they are the center of the world, that people care about their lame comments, and that their 5,000 fake friends mean they are special.

I found out about just to keep in touch with child hood friends and family. I guess it has blown up and it's more of a dating community. Do you have one?
