I have a toshiba laptop and recently after about half an hour it starts getting really hot, almost to the point where parts of it hurt to touch. I try to shut it down before then but it really limits my computer use. Can I take my laptop in to a computer store to get its fan or whatever it has replaced? Please Help! thanks

I've also noticed that on the side of my laptop where the fan is it doesn't have air coming from it anymore. Does that mean a burnt out fan? Also if I take it to a computer store will they have to send it away somewhere to get it fixed or can they do it localy?

My sisters both have laptops, my brother has an Xbox, but they all have this problem. Try to put your laptop on a cooler surface, such as cement (if you're outside), or wood. Also, if you're at home, put a fan next to your computer so that you have a constant source of cooling it down. Overheating happens to laptops all the time. If you're laptop still isn't staying cool, go to a computer place and ask about. I'm sure that you could also find something on the Toshiba website.

Sounds like your CPU fan died. Was it noisy before things started getting hot? Could be the bearings seized up. You best bet would be to contact a Toshiba authorized repair facility. They can get the proper fan for you. Shouldn't have to send it out, but you never know until you ask them.

Sounds like a burnt out fan.
Simply take it in to get a fan replaced

I fixed my "burning laptop" problem by using a compressed air duster and cleaning my system without having to open it. What happens is that maybe your system has a lot of dust and the fan doesn't run as fast as it should, making your system hotter. Hope this helps.

Do not attempt to run it any longer without a fan. Cooling is vital to a laptop's operation and lifespan. Use a shop, unless you are experienced at hardware repair.

I have a fan under mine & it works GREAT! Mine also got really hot to touch. I probably should send it in to be looked at but I won't.

Buy a cooling plate to set your laptop on, most are powered from the USB port.
