I can write a sentence and I can give you an example of a way to use phrases to get my idea across to you.
For example, you would clearly state what you have to say, and then I would clearly state what I have to say. We would actually listen to each other by reading our thoughts without just thinking of what we wanted to say next.

Then you may directly admit that you have thoughts and are not embarrassed to tell me your ideas.

Another example would be that you would eventually get your idea across without stumbling on the term "if like", and then I would be able to understand what's in your mind and heart better.

Do you know how clearly you may understand my ideas if I actually give you samples of my thoughts? For example, I really want to understand your question. However, you may not understand all of the examples of other phrases that I have given you in order for you to be heard.

if, for example. It's good that you can recognize these phrases in your essay. Write you essay in your usual langauge, then underline those phrases. Keep a dictionary of essay language that you can refer to when you are tempted to use it in the future.

Here's an idea, start out with your typical "If Like" portion and complete the sentence. Then just delete the "If like" and see how it looks without your re-occurring "If Like" It'll be easier to rearrange the sentence in an intelligent manner.

Most of the time "If Like" is just filler and doesn't need to be used at all.

Some times that is a habit. Try as if, therefore, just if or just like. Leaving just off.
