Its pretty easy. Go to My Computer, Right Click on the thing next to the C drive that says external and click backup.

This answer is based on Windows 2000 or XP. I don't know how a Mac does it. I'm assuming that it is a USB external drive. If so, just plug it into your USB port, turn it on and good to Windows Explorer (not Internet Explorer). Look at the list of drives in the left panel, and your drive should be listed there. You can just use it as any other drive.
