it depends on whih area of Forensic Science you are interested in. There are several college and university courses available as well as vocational training through the police for those interested in SOCO and CSI work.
Forensic Science covers everything from those who colect evidence at a crime scene to those who spend hours in a lab diluting samples for testing. Not one person does all of it.
Whilst some forensic scientists do work for the police, many work for the home office or organisations such as the forensic science service. there are several forensic science companies in operation in the UK and many choose to work freelance or as consultants alongside other jobs.

Forensic Science is offered as a degree in several universities throughout the UK, with the opportunity to specialise afterward.

Not taking chemistry would massively reduce your options in the forensics field. Most of forensics is really chemistry although significant amounts are biological.
