The best choice would be Joe Thomas....therefore he isnt an option. As unbelievable as this sounds some other teams have projected on their draft boards that the Lions will take Calvin Johnson. Everyone can forget about them drafting a QB in the 1st round, Millen has already as much as said it wont happen. Plus they are hoping that Troy Smith will be there with the 2nd pick of the 2nd round. Forget all the people saying Smith should be a top pick, he isnt rated any better than a late 1st rounder on most team boards (size issues, character issues, etc.) and nearly every draft guru has him projected to slide to the top of round #2. JaMarcus Russell (assuming he declares...it seems likely) and Brian Brohm are both rated ahead of Smith and some teams even have Drew Stanton rated higher. If they are smart (okay stop laughing....bad Millen joke) they will trade down to around the 5th to 7th overall pick to get more choices and pick up Alan Branch. They need a space eater in the middle of the D-line and he is the man for the job.

I would have to say OT Joe Thomas. Another option to do is trade down a few spots and then take RB Adrian Peterson then trade away Kevin Jones for extra picks. I know this sounds odd but hey look at the luck the lions have had with the RB's that come from Oklahoma universities.. QB Troy Smith will be a bust in the NFL so they should stay away from him in round 2

in spite of what a great number of folk think of, they might desire to no longer get a quarterback this draft. none of those obtainable will slot in properly with Mike Martz's equipment in any respect, particularly Quinn and Russell. Quinn isn't precise sufficient, and Russell has no longer shown that he's a great quarterback in his very own top (the guy had a suited team surrounding him). besides, Kitna is finally getting a experience for the equipment, and the biggest clarification for many of his struggles grew to become into (gasp!) undesirable direction working and timing via his extensive recievers. they might %. a great reciever.... yet there is merely too plenty historic past to bypass by way of that door lower back, whether CJ is obtainable. Which leaves me thinking that they might desire to the two commerce the %. for a shown quarterback who would desire to run the equipment (Jeff Garcia could be stable) or a protective participant, or draft a protective participant. i could draft protection, and that i could bypass with the two the suited linebacker or protection obtainable. I won't call any names top now, no longer till after this weeks integrate. yet it extremely is the place they might desire to concentration, and maybe they are in a position to do the suited factor and get some stable characters in this air headed squad. playstation : If Ginn or Jarret are obtainable on the initiating of the 2d around, thats the place they might desire to bypass.

Jemarcus Russell, as long as the Raiders don't take him first. If they take him, you get Brady Quinn. But trust me, you'd rather have Troy Smith over Brady. Combine Troy's knack for winning, and the talent you have at receiver due to Matt Millen's mental retardation, and you wouldn't be in such bad shape. Millen would then need to take Offensive Line and Defensive Line the rest of the way.

Should take O-Lineman from Wisconsin...He is a beast....Forget the WR and Quinn...You know some teams would give up a lot to be in their postition. Trade it for the future until the rest of the team matures...FINAL ANSWER...No wait!!!!

Maurice Clarett

Take Russell. The big gun is a no-brainer.
As for Quinn, he looks like a buffed-out Rick Mirer/Ron Pawlus to me.
