I was just doing some research on this and it seems to be rare but im still a little nervous about this happening to me. I am a healthy 23 year old and am 31 weeks pregnant. As im getting closer im getting scared about a lot and having a heart attack and dying while giving birth is one of my fears. SHould i be worried about this? I have been short of breath with some heaviness but i was guessing it had to do with how smushed eveything is. Is this normal? Thanks i know i sound crazy but im a worried first time mom.

dont be nervous--only 1 in 10,000 women die during giving birth.
(my other half is worried about this too, lol)
there isnt anything to worry about.
just relax and enjoy the rest of your pregnancy--doctors do all they can and monitor you a lot to make sure you and baby are doing fine all during delivery

first of all try to calm down stressing isn't going to do you or your baby any good. Second of all while you are in labor you are closely monitored. You get hooked to all these wires one takes your blood pressure every 10min, one watches your heart rate and oxygen saturation or blood ox and then there are the wires that monitor contractions and the baby's heart rate. They are all in place so the dr's can watch what is going on. Now heart attack and stroke are caused by plaque blocking either the cardiac artery that supplies the blood to the muscles of the heart (heart attack) or one of the arteries that supply blood to the brain (stroke). In both cases the plaque caused by foods high in cholesterol clogs the arteries and prevents oxygen rich blood from entering the organs thus causing them to stop functioning. Unless you already have high cholesterol or Cardiac Artery Disease, you are not at high risk. you are more likely to be at risk from Pregnancy Induced Hypertension(PIH) aka high blood pressure which may lead to severe conditions such as pre-eclampsia or eclampsia of which seizures are are a concern, but that is why they monitor your blood pressure carefully. Again this is why it is important for you to relax and try not to worry. I have a feeling your going to be a great mom. good luck

Calm down! Take it easy, not to scare you but death is a SMALL possibility during birth, but rarely happens, so cool off. And go to your boyfriend/husband for support, I am sure he wouldn't mind encouraging you. Everyone fears death, so you are not alone, but try not to think of it, those doctors are going to do anything in there power to keep you going. Hope this helped, good luck!
