Yes, before I can sleep every t.v. and light near my room has to be off, and at school I cover my laptop and put a towl under the door so that light cannot get in. The window in my room is covered with a black comforter and a thick hunter green curtain. I know it's pretty extreme, but if that's what it takes.... Needless to say, I usually the last to go to bed.

I go to sleep with the radio on and I get a restful night's sleep. By the way, there's no such thing as PERFECT silence or darkness there would be sooner or later an interruption in the silence and perfect darkness would be too scary. The world would suck if something was perfect.

oh lord no sweetie..I am a diagnosed imsomniac..there are different kinds..the first who cant get to sleep, the second who wake a couple hrs later and lay there. The second is me..My mind turns on and I can hear songs which I dont even like, I think of the day, I think of what tommorow will be, I think of all kinds of stuff and later find myself awake 5 hrs later and having to work in the morning..know how I have to sleep? Fan turned on high for the noise and the clock covered ever so slightly for a light glow..if the fan is not on, I cant sleep. It may be all in my head but I am that far gone as far as sleep is concerned..some people prefer white noise (fan, tv on a fuzzy screen) some prefer those ocean or river machines..I find it easier to sleep with noise

Not necessarily perfect silence but a dark dark room is very much needed.

Sometimes I leave the radio on, sometimes in complete silence. But in total darkness all the time. Electricity costs so much.

Not like that. I can sleep anywhere but yes, silence and darkness make that fast and easy.

I need absolute darkness, but I have to have a consistent noise like a fan before I can go to sleep

Not really, it depends on how tired i am, if i am really tired i could asleep in the middle of one of my house parties and then there are other times when i can't sleep cause there is the littlest noise like tapping or something that can keep me up.

I usually try focusing on my breathing and that makes me fall straight to sleep.
