This is an interesting subject, but the question itself is bogus, as if it was really a fantasy desire, then girlfriends doing it in the past would have made it more than a fantasy. And if his wife likes to play with his arsse, she'd at least like to stick something in it. He doesn't even admit that much could or has happened. So the question is at least premature as he should know he hasn't tried the obvious approaches yet, and knew it when he added further comments.

Well, this is always tough, and even harder to give advice on, since you say she's conservative and selectively kinky. But I think even the fact that she enjoys playing with your anus is a big plus sign, compared to many women who would grimace at the very thought. Your wife is almost halfway there!
There are a couple methods I can think of:
1) Next time she's down there, get into it, even more than you probably already do. Writhe, moan, show her that you really enjoy it, and then throw in something casual, like 'fill me up, I want your fingers inside me' or something like that, to introduce the idea that you really would enjoy penetration. I think you want this to happen or you wouldn't be asking here. My advice, enjoy. My ex husbands sex life became virtually non exsistant, he suggested we try this and we found a strap on that stimulated me whilst I pentrated him.
