Will the ps3 price drop any time soon?

It's probably going to depend on several things:

1. If MS decides to do a price drop and Sony is losing badly, then Sony has no choice but to do a price drop. It's probably going to be at least 1 more year before MS will drop the 360 price.

2. If Sony is losing the battle badly, then it has no choice but to do a price drop. We should get an indication on where Sony stands by the end of this year. Hopefully, by the end of his year, Metal Gear Solid 4, Final Fantasy XIII, Devil May Cry 4, and other blockbusters would be released. If those titles aren't getting gamers to buy the PS3, then Sony's in a lot of hurt.

3. There will be a price drop if the Blu-ray is failing miserably against the HD-DVD. Sony's Blu-ray partners might force Sony to do a price drop in order to get consumers to buy the PS3, thereby increasing the number of homes with Blu-ray players. This might take a while because the Blu-ray vs. HD-DVD battle has only just begun. To add to the confusion, LG will released a hybrid Blu-ray/HD-DVD player.

4. There will be a price drop if the raw materials needed to make the PS3 got cheaper or Sony finds a new way to save costs. This will probably happen in 3 or 4 years.

It is after Christmas, so I woudl expect the price to drop some time in Feb/March. Typically this is when the stores are begging for customers.

Well the prices in Japan has reduced by 20%.For others it will be the same.The reason they won't change it because they believe it is a "fair price for an outstanding product".
