Regardless of how society has taken the idea of marriage and anally raped it, marriage is still meant to be forever. Realistically speaking, though, it's not likely to happen. But when do people aspire to reality? Most people's hopes and goals are for idealistic things, not realistic things. As far as a man not wanting to commit to a woman whose parents are divorced, let me just tell you that my mother "dragged daddy through divorce court" for a very good reason. He was sexually abusing his children in their infancy. The man I plan to marry used to believe he would not marry a woman whose parents are divorced, but he saw the necessity in my parents situation and was able to rise above that and still does intend to marry me once we are both financially stable. But I can definitely still sympathize with the question in your title... I do not quite understand my mother's insatiable desire for another marriage. No, she doesn't want a boyfriend. She wants another husband. I doubt I'd be ready to jump into another marriage after what happened to hers, so I've never quite understood why she still thinks she needs another husband so badly.

I truly believe that is every little "girls" dream is to be a wife and mother, be it with the opposite sex or the same, therefore every girl doesn't always marry for the right reason, thus it ending in divorce.
Most divorce is because the girl and/or guy is emotionally, mentally and/or physically unable to handle the demands of being in a committed relationship... Remember you must always think before you leap.

some say.. "in a parking lot, a good spot is always taken" (or something to that effect).. so, if a woman dont get married, it feels like she's not good enough that no man took her for commitment. marriage for women is a fulfilment of womanhood. security and benefits follow (LOL).

Divorce allows for people who have tried their hardest in a relationship, to have an out when the person they are married to, turns into an unreasonable beast. I do not fault anyone who has given a relationship their all, and who decides that divorce is the only option left to them.

Women are socialized (from little girls) to want, need, demand, expect and crave a "fairy-tale wedding". We see it in media from Disney to Oprah to Hans Christian Anderson. The notion of the "perfect" wedding is deeply embedded in the psyches of many women. That doesn't mean it's not an incredibly shallow, narrow, stereotypical load of hooey. It is.
Men are socialized (from little boys) to want, need, demand, expect and crave independence. They are to deny their feelings and emotions at all costs from a very tender age. It's in every beer commercial, titty magazine, car advertisement and male media personality. That doesn't mean it's not completely shallow, narrow, stereotypical load of hooey - because it is.
Women and men "think" they know what will make a good marriage. They often don't know.

Without being married a woman has no hope of a nice juicy divorce settlement.
